Half-day training course in Perth

Customer experience and web accessibility

Create better online experiences for everyone.

The people we communicate with online have different abilities, backgrounds, languages, experiences and circumstances. Something that feels straightforward to one person can be confusing, frustrating or impossible for another.

Learn to see the online experience through different eyes, recognise the barriers that get in the way and make better decisions about the content and experiences you create.

Who this course is for

This course is for anyone who creates, contributes to or manages information and services people use online.

You might work in communications, customer service, content, digital, community engagement, service delivery or another part of the organisation. You don’t need to be a web designer or digital specialist. If you create, contribute to or manage information that people need to access online, this course is for you.

What you’ll learn

Develop a more informed way of looking at the online experience and practical ways to make it easier for more people.

See the experience through different eyes

Understand how differently people can experience the same information or service, and how ability, language, literacy, confidence and circumstances can shape that experience.

Recognise the barriers

Learn to spot common barriers in content, structure, links, documents, forms, images and other everyday parts of the online experience.

Make information easier to understand and use

Explore how language, structure and content decisions affect whether people can find, understand and act on information.

Understand accessibility without getting lost in it

Build a practical understanding of accessibility principles and WCAG, what they mean, why they matter and where they fit into your work.

Make accessibility part of everyday work

Learn how to consider accessibility from the beginning, rather than treating it as a compliance check at the end.

Know what you can change

Leave with a clearer understanding of what you can do differently in your own work, where to start and when specialist expertise may be needed.

Learn from real experience

I’m Michelle Kember-Imrie. For more than 25 years, I’ve helped organisations understand their customers and make online information and services easier to find, understand and use.

Through customer research, interviews and user testing, I’ve seen firsthand the barriers people encounter, from confusing content and difficult navigation to accessibility challenges that can prevent someone from completing a simple task.

I bring those experiences into the training room through real examples and practical approaches that help you recognise barriers, understand their impact and make meaningful improvements in your own work.

A warm, welcoming experience

I put care into creating an environment where people can settle in, feel comfortable and enjoy learning together.

I take this part seriously too. Scheduled courses include a scrumptious morning tea. In-house sessions include morning or afternoon tea to suit your timing, and I’ll happily cater for dietary requirements.
