Half-day training course in Perth

Search, AI and your content

Understand how people are finding information now, and what that means for the content you create.

People are finding information in very different ways. Search engines are changing, AI-generated answers are appearing alongside traditional results, and people are increasingly asking AI tools direct questions rather than navigating through websites.

They may get the answer they need without ever visiting your website.

That changes what we need to think about. What we publish needs to be clear, complete, current and well structured, so people, search engines and AI tools can understand it and use it accurately.

Learn what’s changing, what actually matters for your content and what you can do differently now.

Who this course is for

This course is for anyone who writes, prepares, reviews or manages information that will be published online.

You might work in communications, customer service, content, digital, service delivery or another part of the organisation, or provide information for someone else to publish. You don’t need any technical knowledge of search or AI. If part of your work involves creating information that people need to find and use online, this course is for you.

What you’ll learn

Learn how search and AI use what you publish, and practical ways to make your content easier to find, understand and use.

Understand what has changed

See how traditional search, AI-assisted search, AI-generated answers, AI assistants and voice are changing the way people ask questions and find information, and why people may never reach your website at all.

Know what search and AI rely on

Learn what can happen when information is missing, unclear, contradictory or out of date, and why the quality of what you publish matters wherever the eventual answer appears.

Give people the complete answer

Learn to anticipate the questions people are likely to ask and make sure your content contains the information they need, rather than leaving important details buried, assumed or missing.

Make the important information easy to identify

Use clear page titles, useful opening content, descriptive headings and logical structure so people, search engines and AI tools can more easily understand what your information is about.

Use the language people actually use

Think about how people phrase questions and describe what they need, and use familiar language that makes information easier to find and understand.

Keep your information trustworthy

Understand why accurate, current and consistent information matters more than ever when search and AI tools may interpret, combine and repeat what organisations publish.

You’re still writing for people

You don’t need to learn a new way of writing for AI.

Clear, useful, well-structured information works better for people, and it also makes it easier for search and AI systems to understand and use your content accurately.

We’ll look at real examples of how information appears in search and AI-generated answers, what can go wrong when the source content is unclear or incomplete, and the practical changes that can make a difference.

The aim is not to turn you into a search or AI specialist. It is to help you make better decisions about the information you are already responsible for.

Learn from real experience

I’m Michelle Kember-Imrie. For more than 25 years, I’ve helped organisations make online information and services easier to find, understand and use.

I’ve worked inside complex online environments, and through customer research, interviews and user testing, I’ve seen how people actually look for information and what gets in their way.

I bring both sides into the training room: the people using online services and the organisations responsible for delivering them.

What you’ll take away

You’ll leave knowing how search and AI are changing the way people find your information, how to spot where your content could be letting people down, and what to do about it.

A warm, welcoming experience

I put care into creating an environment where people can settle in, feel comfortable and enjoy learning together.
